Adverse Weather Policy
We are aware of a potential tropical storm on Sunday, 26 July.
The following contingency plans are in place in case of adverse weather:
The conference will proceed as scheduled if a Signal 1 (T1) or Signal 3 (T3) tropical storm signal is announced by the Hong Kong Observatory or if an Amber or Red rainstorm warning is in force.
If the Hong Kong Observatory has raised a Signal 8 (T8) signal or a Black rainstorm warning is in force at 7am on Sunday, we will move the ISRA announcements, Verbal Session 7 and Verbal Session 8 online.
If the Signal 8 (T8) or Black rainstorm is cancelled by 9am, those with a bus ticket will meet at Hotel JEN at 11:00am for the bus to the venue. Morning tea will not be provided and the Panel Discussion will begin at the venue at 11:30am. Delegates without a bus ticket should make their own way to the venue by 11:30am.
If the Signal 8 (T8) or Black rainstorm is in force at 9am, the Panel Discussion and Closing Remarks will also be moved online. Lunch will not be provided.
If the Signal 8 (T8) or Black rainstorm is cancelled by 12pm, those with a bus ticket will meet at Hotel JEN at 1:00pm for the bus to the venue. Lunch will be provided at 1:30pm and the Professional Workshop will begin at 2:00pm. Delegates without a bus ticket should make their own way to the venue by 2:00pm.
If the Signal 8 (T8) or Black rainstorm is in force at 12pm, the Professional Workshop will be moved online.
For those making their own way to the venue, note that transportation shuts down during a Signal 8 (T8) or Black rainstorm. Transportation services typically resume 2 hours after warnings are canceled, subject to prevailing traffic and weather conditions.
More information, including online links, will be provided to registered delegates through email closer to the time if a Signal 8 (T8) or Black rainstorm warning looks imminent. Please check the email address that you used to register for the conference.
The Hong Kong Observatory is responsible for weather forecasting and signals. Their website is https://www.hko.gov.hk/en/index.html
They also have an app called My Observatory available in your app store of choice.
