DCD16 Conference (Friday -Sunday 24-26 July 2026)

The Conference will be held at the William M.W. Mong Block, Faculty of Medicine, University of Hong Kong, 21 Sassoon Road.  The theme of the Conference will be “Impact of Developmental Coordination Disorder across the Lifespan: Advancing Knowledge and Co-designing Solutions”.

We are pleased to invite all participants to a traditional Cantonese banquet within the Palace Museum. The museum is a widely acclaimed architectural masterpiece sitting in West Kowloon Cultural Park and provides breathtaking views of Hong Kong’s famous skyline.  The dinner is an add-on cost HK$900, including transport to and from the conference hotel at the pre-arranged bus times.

This workshop is for family physicians and other primary care providers, community and developmental pediatricians, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and psychologists to learn about their role in the assessment and diagnosis of DCD. Treatment and management of DCD will also be discussed. By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the diagnostic criteria and secondary/long-term consequences of DCD
  2. Assess and diagnose DCD at different ages (preschool and school age) and in the context of comorbidities (ADHD, ASD, prematurity)
  3. Implement management/treatment strategies and access resources for DCD

The workshop will be free for Conference delegates to attend (HK$200 for others who wish to join). Speakers will include Dr Winnie Tso from the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Hong Kong and Dr Jill Zwicker, Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, Faculty of Medicine, The University of British Columbia.

Transport back to the hotel will be provided for those holding a Day 3 single day back to the to Hotel pass or the all inclusive 3 day pass.

We will also host a two- part, three-day Comprehensive CO-OP Workshop. Part 1 will occur on 27 and 28 July 2026.

Part 2 will be synchronous online on October 24, 2026. This workshop will prepare participants with knowledge and skill to apply CO-OP to their practice.

The charge for this course is HK$8000.

This CO-OP Comprehensive workshop is a prerequisite to becoming certified in the CO-OP Approach.

Instructors will include Dr Helene Polatajko (Professor Emeritus, Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto) and Ms. Sabine Vincon (PhD Candidate, Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh).

CO-OP participants will need to transport themselves to the workshop.

The early bird rate is available to any completed registration on or before 5:00pm (Hong Kong time) on 1 February 2026.

The full professional rate is applicable to professionals such as academics, health care professionals or teachers.

The student/resident rate is available to any student undertaking a degree at any level in a tertiary institution or to any person undergoing supervised, post-graduate training in a medical specialty.

The family rate is available to any person who has been diagnosed with DCD or who has someone diagnosed with DCD in their family, but who is not involved in research or treatment of DCD.

Conference rates for participants from Hong Kong SAR and Mainland China have been subsidised. Participants should be a member of a university, institution or clinic based in Hong Kong or Mainland China. At registration, participants should use an email address from the university, institution, or clinic they are from to prove that they qualify for this rate.

Bus passes are sold at a minimal cost $30HKD each way to and from the conference.

From the Hotel Jen to the conference, buses will depart in a timely manner for participants to make the first session of the day.

Buses will depart the at the conclusion of each conference day to return to the Hotel Jen. 

Bus passes must be pre-ordered and will not be available on the days of the conference.
